Thank you for visiting the Kittitas County Transfer Station Relocation project website. Kittitas County selected the US 97/Old Highway 10 site for the new Ellensburg Transfer Station in August 2018. The relocated station will provide the same services that are at the existing Ellensburg Transfer Station (i.e. transfer station, compost facility, moderate risk waste facility, and recycling depot). The transfer station on Industrial Way will close after the new transfer station is complete.

Thank you for your input to date. Your suggestions and input were essential throughout the site evaluation process. We will continue to seek your feedback via this website when we enter the Design phase of the project. Please check back periodically for project updates.

Latest update (March 2020):

Kittitas County submitted to City of Ellensburg a predevelopment application necessary for development of the proposed solid waste transfer station at the new site in September 2019. Subsequent environmental and land use permits were submitted in January 2020. Permit applications can be found here.

Details about the new site can be found in the Final Site Selection Report.

Additionally, Kittitas County plans to use part of the northern portion of the parcel for the relocation of the Lower County Public Works Maintenance Facility. In order to do that, that parcel would be divided. The short plat application for that division can be found here.
