Kittitas County completed a step-by-step process to find the best site for the new transfer station. The County worked with a team of consultants and consulted with the community throughout the siting process to ensure that the public's feedback was incorporated into the decision and a location that best meets technical and community criteria was chosen. Click the Community Voice tab to see how the community’s voice was incorporated into the technical work and how to engage with the project when the project moves into the station design phase.
Latest update (December 2018): After a Phase 1 Environmental Assessment, the County Commissioners purchased the US 97/Old Highway 10 site for the new transfer station. Details about the site can be found in the Final Site Selection Report. Please click to view the draft Phase 1 Environmental Assessment.
